A distemper paint formula, including the dry distemper formula, combines filler, pigment and a binder into a low-cost interior wall finish. In India it is made as dry distemper powder (IS 427) or as washable distemper paste (IS 428). Here you will find the groups, the mixing order and the checks.

A distemper formula is short, which is why distemper is a simple first product.

We tune formulas with you for your raw materials, grade and climate, and support your lab trials and scale-up to plant batches. IPCS (Indian Paints Consulting Service) develops and transfers formulations, and supports dry and paste distemper formulas from lab trials to plant batches.

Applications of Distemper Paint Formula

Distemper is chosen for low cost on interior walls.

Quality targets for distemper paint

  • Residue on a 63 micron sieve: 5.0 percent maximum for dry distemper and 1.0 percent maximum for washable distemper
